Elkhart County 4-H Fair Underway For 150th Year

ELKHART COUNTY — The 150th year of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair is now underway. Today is $5 First Friday where there is a $5 admission, $5 food specials and free big wheel rides from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The fair will continue through Saturday, July 29.
Opening day has a variety of activities going on throughout the day. The evening will feature the 4-H Fair Queen Pageant at 5 p.m. at the grandstand. Then at 8 p.m. John Crist’s Emotional Support Tour will take over the grandstand.
The Senior Queen Pageant will be at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Park Stage.
Also at the park stage will be Strolling Piano performing daily through Wednesday, July 26. Spaniels Forever will be on stage at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Hometown Hero Day
It will be Hometown Hero Day on Saturday, July 22. This day honors veterans, military and first responders who will be honored at Heritage Park starting at 9 a.m. There will be a Veterans program and presentation of colors. The program will include pinning of veterans, presentations of quilts of valor. At 11 a.m. the 38th Army Band will perform. First responders will be honored at noon, with a program.
There will be demonstrations and hands on activities at 1 p.m. Later on Saturday, at 8 p.m. AEROFORCE: A Tribute to Aerosmith will be performing at Heritage Park Stage.
The first day of harness racing will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the grandstand. The race will feature the 3-year-old Classic Paces XXXII. Additional races will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25.
Evening entertainment will be the monster trucks at 8 p.m. at the grandstand.
Free Sunday
Free admission day will be Sunday, July 23. The day will start off with a Catholic Mass at 8 a.m. followed by a Protestant worship at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Park Stage. Harvest Community Church will lead the Protestant worship.
The Parade 5,000 Road Run will kick off at 1:30 p.m. with the starting line at Rogers Park, Goshen. The fair parade will step off at 1:30 p.m. from Linway Plaza, making its way through downtown Goshen to the fairgrounds.
Ten-year member recognition will be at 4:15 p.m. at the grandstands. A youth fellowship and praise night will be held on the track at 5 p.m.
Skillet will be in concert at 8 p.m. at the grandstands. At 9:45 p.m. a drone show will take place in the infield.
Disabilities And Special Groups Day
Monday will be a special day as it is disabilities and special groups day, where hundreds of people with disabilities and special groups will have an opportunity to enjoy the fair. There will be exhibit booths in Heritage Park, starting at 8 a.m. with activities starting at 9 a.m. Those who participate in the Disabilities and Special Groups day will have an opportunity to go on sensory friendly rides at 10 a.m.
At 4 p.m. their will be a 150th celebrations with an ingrounds parade throughout the fairgrounds.
Juggler Yoder can be seen at 1 p.m. on Heritage Park Stage and at 7 p.m. there will be Princess Party.
Carly Pearce will be the evening’s grandstand entertainment.
Throughout the week there will be opportunities to see:
Wolves of the World at the Everence Family Entertainment Center with daily shows at noon, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. This is the only traveling wolf pack in the world.
All American Pig Races will be held at the Jayco Family Fun Center daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and additional show is at 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday.
Don’t miss the Ninja Experience at the Hollyhock Entertainment Center. Shows are daily at 4 p.m. 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Admission to the fair is $10 per person. Those 9 years and under are free.
