WARSAW — A Leesburg teenager was recently arrested for allegedly using a gun to threaten a person.
Jeffrey Vanhulst, 18, 19 EMS B42D Lane, Leesburg, is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony.
On July 12, an individual spoke with a Warsaw Police officer about being threatened by Vanhulst. The person said they were at the Kosciusko County Fair on July 11 when they argued with Vanhulst.
According to court documents, Vanhulst lifted his shirt and displayed a small black handgun. While the person left the fair, Vanhulst attempted to instigate a fight with them.
On July 12, the person sent Vanhulst a Facebook friend request, which Vanhulst accepted. Vanhulst sent the person a video in which he pointed an AR-15 at the camera.
In an interview with the officer, Vanhulst said no one displayed a firearm at the fairgrounds. He said he received a friend request from the person and, after receiving instigating messages from them, Vanhulst sent the person a video depicting a rifle.
Vanhulst was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 12, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
