North Webster Man Arrested For Running Over Man’s Leg With Vehicle

SOUTH BEND — A North Webster man was recently arrested in St. Joseph County for using a vehicle to run over a man’s leg.
Ray James Skelton, 57, 301 E. George St., North Webster, is charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; and criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony.
On May 10, St. Joseph County and Lakeville Police Departments responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man with severe injuries to his leg.
According to court documents, the man said he went to get into a vehicle when the vehicle’s driver, identified as Skelton, drove away and ran over his leg.
The man said he was paying for a ride from Skelton when Skelton allegedly became mad about the amount of money he was getting paid. He told police he was re-entering Skelton’s vehicle after looking for his cellphone when Skelton hit the gas and drove away. The man fell and his leg was ran over by Skelton’s vehicle.
