Music, Movie, Slip ‘N Slide, More Happening In Goshen

GOSHEN — Here’s a look at a few activities happening in Goshen this weekend, courtesy of the Good of Goshen.
Friday, July 14
Splash-Tastic Weekend: All day Friday through Sunday July 14-16, at Abshire Park. Slide down the tubing hill on one of two custom inflatable slip ‘n’ slides that will be available. Food vendors and live music.
Baby & Me Lapsit: 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Goshen Public Library, 601 S. Fifth St., Goshen. The program is filled with learning experiences for youngsters ages zero to 2. The group meets every Friday at the same time.
Free Movie: 7:30-10 p.m. in Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St. Disney’s “Luca” will be shown. The PG-rated, animated film runs for one hour, 35 minutes and tells the coming-of-age story of a young boy during a summer in an Italian seaside town.
The Tillers: 7:30 p.m. at Ignition Music Garage, 120 E. Washington St. The Tillers will be creating their own distinctive sound of string band style folk music. The group has four studio albums and one live record that have won members praise as modern folk storytellers of the national soundscape.
Saturday, July 15
CoWrite: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Maple City Chapel, 2015 Lincolnway E., Goshen. An event for aspiring singer/songwriters to work with renowned songwriting coaches in various interactive. workshops
Maker’s Saturday — Paint & Plant: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Imagination Spot, 111 E. Washington St., Goshen, in collaboration with The Planted Arrow. Walk in, select and paint either a little animal or teapot planter, then walk over to The Planted Arrow for a succulent or air plant to put in it.
Shelby Lentz: 6-9 p.m. at The Oasis, 702 W. Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Live performance. At just 15, Lentz opened at The State Theater in Kalamazoo for Warner Music artist Frankie Ballard and began collaborating with local songwriters on original music. She went on to also open for former “American Idol” finalist Matt Giraud, as well as international recording artist Joanne Shaw Taylor and country act Montgomery Gentry.
