Velazquez Arrested For Battering Man, Using Knife In Domestic Dispute

WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested for allegedly battering a man and using a knife during a domestic dispute.
Emily Velazquez, 22, 3762 W. Old Road 30 Lot 682, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony; and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, and intimidation, all level 6 felonies.
On July 7, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a domestic complaint in Warsaw. The deputy spoke with Velazquez, who said a man hit her while she was packing her belongings.
According to court documents, the man said Velazquez threatened to kill him, grabbed a kitchen knife, and choked him. The deputy saw visible marks on the right side of the man’s throat.
The man took the knife from Velazquez, but she retrieved a second knife and attempted to stab the man. During the altercation, the man sustained a laceration to his left hand. He said he slapped the right side of Velazquez’s head as she tried to stab him.
A child was present during the domestic complaint.
Velazquez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 7, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
