News Release
SYRACUSE — Teens will want to make the Syracuse Public Library their destination during the week of June 26. From 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, teens will create kind notes in the Rosalyn Jones Room to slip into the books they love for future readers to discover. It is a great way to engage others with a well-beloved story.
The monthly young adult book club will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, to discuss “Burn Our Bodies Down” by Rory Power. The book promises to be a feverishly twisty thriller about a girl whose past has always been a mystery — until she returns to her mother’s hometown. Copies are available at the Syracuse Public Library. There are also digital e-books and audiobooks on Libby.
Anime Club will learn about Japanese shrines, which are popular tourist destinations and also pop up in many popular anime shows. After the presentation, club members will pick an anime on Crunchyroll. Join the group from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 29. Some animes may have more mature themes. For information, contact Amber Weber at [email protected].
The library is happy to launch its new young adult writing group from 2-3 p.m. Friday, June 30. Teens and young adults can find inspiration, learn how to hone their craft, explore the writing habits of their favorite authors, find helpful writing resources, and most importantly, have literary fun. Writers of all forms and genres are welcome. For information, contact Sarah Wright at [email protected].
Children’s Summer Reading Programming
The library’s downstairs meeting room will transform into a glow-in-the-dark bowling alley at 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, during Make-It Monday. This program is geared toward ages 7-12, but other ages are welcome to join the fun.
Younger children, birth to age 5, can attend story time at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, in the downstairs meeting room. There will be picture books, songs, play and a new craft. This week children will make popsicle tents.
For Fantastic Fridays, children will make garden stones at 10:30 a.m. June 30 in the Community Roots outdoor space. All ages are welcome to attend this program. Plan to arrive early since supplies are limited.
Fourth of July Closing
The Syracuse Public Library will close Monday and Tuesday, July 3-4, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.
