Kosciusko Animal Welfare League Wants To Find Onyx A Forever Home
News Release
PIERCETON — If you’re looking for a new canine companion, the local animal shelter wants to make sure you consider Onyx.

Onyx
Onyx has been a guest at the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County for quite a while.
In fact, she’s been at the shelter for 429 days, according to information from AWL. Before that, she was a long-term guest at the Kokomo Humane Shelter. She was transferred here in an exchange program to give her a fresh chance in a different community at finding a forever home.
But she keeps getting overlooked, the staff says — even though her adoption fee has already been paid by a donor and she would be free to a qualified applicant.
A few things to know about Onyx: She is 8 years old, and she’s an indoor dog. She may be a little older, but she is described by those who know her as a “total sweetheart” who has plenty of energy and sometimes still acts like a puppy. She can be a little shy with strangers, though, so patience is needed to give her a chance to warm up to you.
To find out more about her, you can look her up on the Animal Welfare League’s website at awlwarsaw.com. Or, you could drop by the shelter and speak with Brooke, who can introduce you and let you spend some time with Onyx.
Onyx is welcome to continue living at the shelter (the facility does not euthanize pets for space), but the Animal Welfare League wanted to issue a special word about her because usual efforts to get her adopted haven’t worked just yet.
The Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County is located at 1048 S. 325E, Pierceton. Phone (574) 267-3008, send an email to [email protected], or visit the website at awlwarsaw.com for more information.
