Kosciusko Animal Welfare League Invites Public To See Kitties’ New Home
News Release
PIERCETON — The Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County is inviting the public to tour the new Cat House from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, on the AWL campus at 1048 S. 325E, Pierceton.
What started as a dream for board member Carla Carlton, a veterinarian, and executive director Tonya Blanchard, is now a reality. In early 2021, Carlton began raising money for a feline-only shelter in a remodel of the existing building that was on the property when it was purchased.
The Animal Welfare League provides housing for a large and ever-growing population of homeless cats. The new facility provides quiet, stress-free indoor areas with many windows for sunlight and fresh air. There are newly renovated rooms for intake, free roaming, medical care and relaxed interaction with those hoping to adopt.
The mission of the Cat House is to provide a safe, fear-free environment for unwanted cats and kittens while addressing their emotional and medical needs.
AWL is grateful to the donors and Kosciusko County ARPA funds that made the project possible.
