PIERCETON — A Pierceton man has died after a motorcycle accident Thursday night.
Around 10 p.m. Thursday, June 8, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on SR 13, just north of East Shoop Road, north of Pierceton.
The motorcycle’s driver, Edward D. Dempsey, 55, Pierceton, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Preliminary investigation and witness statements determined the 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on SR 13 at a high rate of speed and, while in the area north of East Shoop Road, the motorcycle left the west side of the roadway, hitting a wooden platform sitting off the side of the roadway. Dempsey was thrown from the vehicle and came to rest in the yard of 741 S. SR 13, and the motorcycle continued south and flipped multiple times.
KCSO was assisted at the scene by Lutheran EMS, Pierceton Fire Department, Pierceton Police Department, North Webster Police Department, Indiana State Police, Crouse Wrecker Service, and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT Team.
