WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District has not received any sealed bids for land where the Syracuse recycling drop-off site was formerly located.
Recycling Depot Director Tom Ganser told the district’s board members no bids were received during a Tuesday, June 6, meeting. Ganser said he believed the appraised value for the 0.49 acre of land, $55,000, deterred those who previously expressed an interest in the property.
District President Brad Jackson recommended Ganser follow up with those who showed interest in the land.
In other business, the district’s 2024 budget was discussed, with the depot’s total proposed budget being $451,057. Projected revenues are $449,806.
Ganser said he set aside extra budgeting funds for the depot’s education, outreach, and marketing coordinator, Leslie Williams. This money would be used to get Williams into a program to teach her about grant writing.
District members also approved recycling depot employees using a floating holiday to have Monday, July 3, off.
The district’s next meeting is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18.
