News Release
FORT WAYNE — State Sen. Andy Zay is among speakers at The Lighthouse’s 2023 Addiction Summit set for Tuesday, June 6.
The Lighthouse is a biblical residential program in Allen County. The Addiction Summit is designed to bring awareness to the community about the threats and consequences of illegal drug use as well as safe places to find hope and healing. There will also be Narcan available for all attendees.
This free event is from 6-8 p.m. at The Lighthouse Community Center, 3000 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, where people will have the opportunity to access materials for self-education, learn what recovery resources are available and connect with others who understand the devastating effects of addiction.
Zay will be addressing addiction through the lens of politics. Other speakers include The Lighthouse’s Founder and Director Dr. Brandon Bower, who will present on helping men with addiction; New Life Fellowship and New Life Ministries of Huntington Executive Pastor Jimi Staton, who will talk about the church’s role in fighting addiction; The Remnant Ministries of Huntington Director Jessica Brooks, who will talk about helping women deal with addiction; and the Whitley County Health Department Board’s Dr. Russ Gilliom, who will speak about how addiction is affecting local communities.
“This Addiction Summit is designed to bring an end to the stigma that surrounds drug use and open doors to recovery,” said Bower. “When recovery is strong in a community, overdose rates drop!”
