WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly using a lamp to batter a woman.
Stephen Ray Harris, 35, 5807 S. Maple Grove Lane, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
On Oct. 30, 2022, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a battery in Warsaw.
According to court documents, a woman said she and Harris had a verbal argument. The incident became physical after Harris picked up a lamp and hit the right side of the woman’s head, breaking the lamp. While the woman tried to leave the scene, Harris approached her with a board and the woman put her hands up in an attempt to defend herself.
The deputy noticed the woman had injuries on both of her hands and a large bump on the right side of her forehead. Upon investigating the scene where the incident occurred, the deputy saw a lamp laying in a yard and a piece of wood.
Three people at the scene said the woman chased Harris with a hammer and used a hatchet to hit a door. Harris was not at the scene when the deputy arrived.
For this case, Harris was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 18, 2023, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
