Young Voices Annual Poetry Contest
News Release
INDIANA — The Poetry Society of Indiana, or PSI, will be hosting the Young Voices Annual Poetry Contest. Grades 3-12 are welcome to participate from anywhere across Indiana.
Submissions are accepted May 1 through September 30.
Winners may even be invited to go to the PSI’s Fall Rendezvous Convention event taking place in October. There are additional opportunities for first place winners across the different categories that could result in the poems being published in Ink to Paper, the annual publication of PSI.
The contest guidelines are as follows:
- Open state-wide to public, private, and home school students in grades 3-12
- Recommendation by a teacher is required
- Original unpublished work only
- One poem per student
- 30 line limit (including blank lines
- No submission fee
The categories are grouped together by grade:
- Category 1: Grads 3 and 4
- Category 2: Grades 5 and 6
- Category 3: Grades 7 and 8
- Category 4: Grades 9 and 10
- Category 5: Grades 11 and 12
