On May 13, an Indiana State Police trooper noticed a vehicle fail to completely stop at a stop sign in Warsaw. The trooper began following the vehicle and learned its owner, Roberts, had eight outstanding warrants.
According to court documents, the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over but its driver failed to stop, reaching speeds between 80 to 100 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone. The vehicle eventually stopped in a private drive. Its driver, Roberts; and a passenger, Dawson, were detained.
Roberts told the trooper he ingested meth about 20 minutes prior to being pulled over. He also said there were hypodermic needles and meth in the vehicle. Upon searching Roberts’ person, the trooper found a plastic bag containing meth.
The trooper also found two hypodermic needles and a plastic bag in the vehicle.
Dawson admitted to eating a large amount of meth during the pursuit because he did not want to be charged. He was immediately taken to a local hospital.
Certified chemical test results from Roberts are currently pending.
Roberts was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 13, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. A warrant was issued for Dawson’s arrest on May 18.
