YMCA Partners With Ivy Tech To Provide Childcare For Students
News Release
FORT WAYNE — Beginning Monday June 5, the YMCA will be partnering with Ivy Tech to provide an on campus childcare option for students. The YMCA Child Watch Site will be located at Ivy Tech’s Coliseum Campus.
During a campus-wide survey taken by Ivy Tech, 95% of respondents identified the need for a childcare option on campus.
This will enable students to drop their children off in a safe, supervised environment for up to four hours a day, five days a week, while they attend a class.
“As a working mother, I know the struggles of finding quality childcare at an affordable cost,” says Ivy Tech Fort Wayne & Warsaw Chancellor Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson. “We understand our students are working to support their families, and Ivy Tech hopes to alleviate any challenges that might make their journey harder. We’re grateful for the opportunity to become a new YMCA Child Watch Site.”
At the beginning of each eight week term, children can be registered for $150 per eight-week session. An initial fee of $50 is required at the beginning of each semester for one child, with a cost of $25 for each additional child. For a one time drop in, it will cost $20 per day. However, students are required to pre-register for both. drop in services and regular services.
