ROCHESTER — More details have been released about a Rochester man who allegedly molested a child.
Christopher Scott Steinert, 32, 618 W. 12th St., Rochester, is charged with child molesting, a level 4 felony.
On May 12, the Fulton County Department of Child Services was requested by the Indiana State Police to assist in investigating an alleged child molestation.
According to court documents, during a forensic interview, a child said Steinert inappropriately touched them and that the child also inappropriately touched Steinert. The child went into detail on the actions and also mentioned what clothing Steinert wore during the incidents.
In an interview with police, Steinert said he didn’t remember inappropriately interacting with the child. When asked how the child was able to describe the sexual situations, Steinert said he saw the child watching pornography on a tablet.
A review of Steinert’s DCS history revealed a similar allegation regarding sexual abuse, with Steinert listed as the suspect, in 2016. The allegation was substantiated through the DCS investigation. However, Steinert was not charged with any crime for that incident.
Steinert was booked in the Fulton County Jail on May 12.
