News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — Registration for the summer reading program at the North Webster Community Public Library begins Monday, May 22.
Readers aged birth through adult are encouraged to sign up and participate in this year’s activities. All participants have the opportunity to earn incentive prizes by hitting reading milestones throughout the summer, plus earn drawing tickets for grand prizes.
As an added incentive, if the North Webster community can read and log 100,000 minutes over the course of the summer, Library Director Keith Kuric will be making an appearance in a dunk tank during the library’s grand finale party July 19.
Many special events for all ages will take place during June and July. Adult programs include community game nights every Thursday, a food budgeting and meal planning seminar, a DIY bath bombs class, “Killer Reads” true crime book club and many more.
Teen events include craft classes every Friday, a library exclusive “ride the Dixie” cruise on the Dixie paddlewheel boat, and a five-week Dungeons and Dragons campaign.
Youth events include big events for the whole family Wednesday mornings, “Know Your Neighbor” guests each Thursday to meet local friends with interesting jobs or hobbies and family craft time each Friday with an international flair. Visit the library’s website or pick up a summer reading brochure for more details and more event listings.
This summer, the library will also be promoting a “spread kindness” initiative with an interactive sticker mural. The library is encouraging the North Webster community to spread 4,000 acts of kindness. Each act of kindness that is reported at the library will earn the participant a sticker to add to the sticker mural mosaic. At the end of the summer, the library hopes to have a beautiful artist representation of the kindness and generosity of the community.
