News Release
FORT WAYNE — Women United, an affinity group of United Way of Allen County, is a collaboration of women that is committed to improving the quality of life for the children in Allen County by ensuring their readiness for kindergarten. The first Born Learning Trail installation was completed at McMillen Park in November 2020, and the second installation will wrap up in Hamilton Park Thursday, May 18.
The Born Learning Trail is a public engagement campaign that helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality early learning opportunities for young children. A Born Learning Trail contains interactive signs with activities for adults to engage in with young children to turn an outdoor trip into a fun learning experience. The interactive signs throughout the trail offer instructions in both English and Spanish.
Groups and people who helped make the Born Leaving Trail possible with their assistance include Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, Irene and Bob Walters, and Fort Wayne Community schools art students.
From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, students will be completing the second Born Learning Trail that is located at Hamilton Park, 1601 Jessie Ave., Fort Wayne.
