WARSAW — The Kosciusko Community YMCA has announced construction of its new sports complex has begun and will be completed this spring. The new sports complex will allow members and guests to use two turf fields for a variety of games, sports leagues, group exercise classes and other athletic events.
The YMCA is hoping the new sports complex, located at the Y’s facility at 1305 Mariners Drive, Warsaw, will be a destination for residents of Kosciusko County to come together to enjoy what athletics have to offer.
The Kosciusko Community YMCA is hailing its partnership with K21 Health Foundation, which provided a grant of more than $400,000 to make the project possible. The Y will be naming the field in a way that honors K21’s financial support.
“Here at the YMCA, we are incredibly grateful for the partnership with K21 and their support that has helped us achieve these projects in our community,” said Jim Swanson, chief executive officer of YMCA. “With their financial assistance, we have been able to bring to life important and impactful programs, such as the new downtown YMCA facility and new sports complex. Their unwavering support of our mission has truly made a big difference, allowing us to provide countless individuals with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.”
“K21’s mission is to empower everyone to live an active and healthy lifestyle, and partnering with the YMCA is a key to achieving this mission,” said Rich Haddad, chief executive officer of K21 Health Foundation. “We’ve had a long and healthy relationship with the YMCA, and we’re always pleased to see this partnership impacting the community to such a great extent.”
