News Release
SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko Community Schools has named its students of the month for May.
Caleb Beer is Whitko’s senior high student of the month. Caleb displays quiet leadership, is “always respectful and does the right things,” said Amy Evans, Whitko Junior Senior High School principal, of the junior.
Crew Ebbinghouse is Whitko’s junior high student of the month. Teacher Mike Hanback nominated Crew, an eighth-grader at WJSHS. “Crew is one of those young men who is just pleasant to those around him,” Hanback said. “He has a great attitude, will talk with anyone and is a great addition to any class. He participates a lot, asks good questions (the kind others are afraid to ask), will try everything, complain about nothing and always does good work. His school life includes athletics and other organizations and he, again, excels in all of them. He is what being a Whitko Wildcat is all about.”
Guy Howard is the Whitko Career Academy student of the month. “Guy Howard is one of my best students in my afternoon class,” said nominating engineering instructor Chad Dahms about the sophomore. “When I hand out the work or a project he gets it done on time, he will go out of his way to help other students in the class when they need it. He really enjoys drawing on Fusion 360 then taking that drawing to the labs and utilizing the 30 printers to make the parts.”
Eli Walter is the South Whitley Elementary School’s student of the month. “Eli is such a kind young boy who always comes into class with a smile. He is a great friend and his classmates look up to him. Eli always tries his best and has shown so much growth this year. I am so proud of Eli and cannot wait to see the great things he will continue to accomplish,” said kindergarten teacher Anna Busz, who nominated Eli.
Julia Baldridge is Pierceton Elementary School’s student of the month. “In life, it is important to surround ourselves with people who radiate joy,” said Stephanie Campbell when she nominated second-grader Julia. “Julia Baldridge is one of those people. She is a positive student who does everything with enthusiasm. She is a light in the classroom and to everyone around her. Julia is hardworking, honest, caring and a good friend to others. I have appreciated Julia’s kind heart and willingness to go above and beyond without being asked. The world would be a better place if more people approached life like Julia does — with kindness and sincerity. It is an honor to nominate Julia Baldridge as the Student of the Month for May.”
