WINONA LAKE — A farmer’s market is coming to Winona Lake.
The very first The Farmer’s Market at Winona is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Miller Sunset Pavilion, marking the first non-ice skating community event to occur there.
There will be seven vendors, Winona Lake Town Manager Craig Allebach told InkFreeNews. They include people selling fresh flowers, microgreens, coffee, fresh bread, sweets, eggs, meat and cheese.
Allebach and Winona Lake Town Council Member Jim Lancaster said the farmer’s market is being held related to the “village feel” of the town.
“With most villages around the world, a weekly market is a staple of life,” they said. “Our effort in pulling together a farmer’s market for Winona Lake is to create that shopping staple for the people of our community. It’s all truly about creating more opportunities for the residents to have community together.”
“Our hope is that we are creating another destination shopping experience to complement the shopping experience created by The Village at Winona,” they added. “We are hoping that the combination of The Village at Winona and The Farmer’s Market at Winona will create fantastic synergies for shoppers of all types.”
The market should run every Saturday through the end of September.
