WARSAW — Oakwood Cemetery sexton Hal Heagy updated the Oakwood Board of Regents Thursday, May 4, on the cemetery’s water line issues and repairs to the Preacher’s Stand.
Heagy said the water lines are still an issue. City engineer Aaron Ott has not been able to go out to the cemetery to see them yet, he said. Heagy said he does not plan on turning on the water in the old section of the cemetery due to the leaks in the lines that have been an issue since last year.
Hydro-Tech Well Drilling will go to the cemetery and do an estimate of creating a well behind the cemetery shop so the cemetery can use well water in the old section of the cemetery instead of Indiana American Water.
Heagy said he wants a water station in front of the chapel.
Heagy said a water trailer has been built and is ready to use at the cemetery.
He said as far as the Preacher’s Stand, some work has been done on the steps and he has a new step framed. He also said the cemetery is looking for a new paint scheme for the Preacher’s Stand, but doesn’t know if it will get done by Memorial Day yet. Heagy still has to make new storage doors for the back. Heagy said he hopes to have the Preacher’s Stand all spruced up by the end of the year.
In other business, work on Cremation Garden No. 2 will begin soon and summer help has been hired.
The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. June 8.
