WARSAW — As the month of May approaches we are reminded of transitions and celebrations. Here at the Warsaw Community Public Library, we are ready to meet the challenges of those transitions and celebrate what is ahead.
There are transitions of the weather changing, summer coming, school ending and graduations to celebrate. Here are a few of the activities being offered for our community, and they involve all ages:
Every Wednesday in May, at 4:30 p.m., there will be a Lego Robotics group led by the Purdue Extension of Kosciusko County. During a four-week series involving building, programming and problem-solving skills, children will use the Lego Mindstorms Ev3 to build a working robot. This program is for ages 9-12, and registration is required.
Thursday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m. will be a Star Wars Celebration for teens. Come dressed as your favorite character, enjoy trivia, games, special snacks, and a green screen will be available for photos. May the 4th Be with You!
Saturday, May 6, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, will be our monthly Lego Club. Have fun building solo or as a family, during this come-and-go event for all ages.
Monday, May 8, at 4 p.m. is a valuable opportunity for teens to learn about job interview skills, work ethic and time management. It’s a great chance to ask questions and gain practical information, even if they already have a job. Teens will also be able to apply the skills they have learned by participating in mock interviews.
Monday, May 22, at 6 p.m. you are invited to join us for family movie night. Free popcorn will be provided.
Friday, May 26, through Thursday, June 15, will be a three-week-long community drive to support the Animal Welfare League. There will be an wish list at the library to help you determine what items are needed at the shelter. Donated items may be dropped off in the lower level of the library.
Of course, we are gearing up for the “All Together Now” summer reading challenge here at the library. More details will follow as we get closer to the June 1 registration date.
Visit warsawlibrary.org for more information on these and other events. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The library will be closed for Memorial Day.
