WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after a police pursuit resulted in the discovery of drugs.
Miguel Raymond Castro, 30, 221 N. Columbia St., Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended, both class A misdemeanors.
On April 20, two Warsaw Police officers were on patrol when they noticed a white Chevrolet Captiva cross the center line of Center Street. The officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver failed to stop.
According to court documents, during the pursuit, the driver, later identified as Castro, fled the scene on foot. A drone was utilized to locate Castro.
While retracing Castro’s path during the foot pursuit, officers found 30.9 grams of meth. In an interview with officers, Castro said he didn’t know anything about the meth and that a passenger in his vehicle shoved something in his pocket before he fled the scene on foot.
Castro has a prior conviction for driving while suspended in September 2015. At the time of this incident, he was on pretrial release for intimidation.
For this incident, Castro was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 20, with a $20,500 surety and cash bond.
