WARSAW — By the feel of the 76-degree temperature, Tuesday evening could have easily been a pleasant summer day at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds rather than mid-April.
Hundreds of people took advantage of the weather to come to attend the 22nd “Taste of Agriculture in Kosciusko County” event, which included a variety of agriculture-related display booths set up by local organizations, businesses and vendors. The evening also featured a few different activities and demonstrations, such as a kiddie tractor pedal pull sponsored by Wawasee High School FFA.
The highlight for many of the guests was the free food samplings provided by several businesses and organizations. Food offerings included chicken sausage from Miller Poultry; hard boiled eggs from Creighton Brothers; chips and salsa from Hacienda Mexican Restaurant; seasoned ground beef from the Kosciusko County Cattlemen’s Association; cheese curds, flavored milk and ice cream from Crystal Springs Creamery; shredded duck from Maple Leaf Farms; fresh popcorn from Purdue Extension Kosciusko County; and bottles of water provided by the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District.
More than 100 door prizes, including gift certificates for groceries and Kosciusko County grown products were randomly given out as people entered the fairgrounds. Kids had the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt to earn prizes provided by Maple Leaf Farms.
The event was sponsored by the Kosciusko County Agriculture Awareness Committee, Farm Bureau, Purdue Extension, Farm Credit Mid-America, and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, and was hosted by the Kosciusko County Community Fair Board.
