Earth Week Brings Special Services To Warsaw City Residents
News Release
WARSAW — The City of Warsaw Public Works Department, along with Borden Waste Away Services/Integra and Waste Management, will be offering expanded services to the residents of Warsaw in celebration of Earth Week.
The following services will be made available to city residents Monday, April 17, through Friday, April 21:
Loose leaf pickup: Large piles of leaves can be raked to the curb or alley. They will be picked up on your regular trash day and need to be out by 7 a.m. Please do not put sticks or other trash in the leaf piles. Small piles will need to be bagged or boxed and will be picked up on your regular trash day.
As a reminder, leaves cannot be raked into the streets and gutter lines. This clogs the storm water catch basins and creates drainage issues that can lead to flooding.
Waste Management has offered to place four 30-yard containers at its local transfer station. Residents (identifications will be checked to verify addresses) can drop off items (not truckloads from rental property clean-outs) at no charge. Waste Management will donate the dumping fees. The service will be free of charge to the residents residing within the corporate city limits of Warsaw. Waste Management’s transfer station is located at 2352 N. Boeing Road, Warsaw; the hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Borden Waste Away/Integra Shredding will host a community shred drive day. This will be a “drive through” service. Integra will have a shred truck at the Public Works Department, located at 794 W. Center St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. City employees will load your papers into totes, and Integra will shred the documents on the spot.
Paper lawn and leaf bags: Paper lawn and leaf bags will be available for city residents to pick up at the Public Works Department, located at 794 W. Center St. Residents (identifications will be checked to verify addresses) are invited to pick up six bundles of paper lawn and leaf bags to use for natural debris pickup for 2023. Hours for distribution will be regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Natural debris giveaway: Wood chips, ground leaves and ground yard waste giveaway will begin Monday, April 17. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, or until debris is depleted. The public is invited to bring trailers, dump trucks, pickup trucks and/or small containers to West Center Street just inside Boggs Industrial Park. City employees will load the items. All items are grindings from earlier this year.
