WARSAW — A Pierceton man was recently arrested after allegedly battering a man and possessing drugs.
Devon Pete Poe, 35, 3104 E. Wooster Road Lot 59, Pierceton, is charged with domestic battery and possession of methamphetamine, both level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana with an enhancement and possession of paraphernalia with an enhancement, both class A misdemeanors.
On April 5, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic complaint at a residence. At the scene, the officer found a man with a cut on his right hand.
According to court documents, the man said Poe became angry about a penny he could not find. Poe allegedly flipped a bed over, hit the man several times and threw a glass pipe at him. The pipe broke when it hit the man’s hand, cutting him.
A woman called law enforcement and Poe went upstairs to retrieve “drugs and pipes” from his room before officers arrived.
The man told the officer he went to the residence’s basement to prevent Poe from smoking meth when a verbal altercation began. Poe told the officer he may have pushed the man and that the man kicked him in the face. The officer did not notice any marks on Poe’s face.
Poe admitted to having marijuana in his room and a search was conducted. Officers searched the home and found drug paraphernalia, hand-rolled cigarettes containing marijuana, and methamphetamine residue.
Poe has prior convictions for marijuana and paraphernalia possession in Kosciusko County.
Poe was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 5, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
