WARSAW — A Pierceton woman will serve nine years in prison after officers found over 15 grams of methamphetamine in her vehicle.
Angel Michelle Roberts, 23, 406 S. Washington St., Pierceton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony. Eight additional criminal charges, as well as a separate drug possession case, were all dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Roberts was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, March 27.
For methamphetamine possession, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Roberts to nine years in the Indiana Department of Correction. She has 116 days of jail time credit, plus good time credit as calculated. This credit will go toward the remaining balance of Roberts’ sentence in a probation violation stemming from a drug possession case.
Reed said he had no objection to Roberts’ participation in Recovery While Incarcerated while at DOC.
At sentencing, Defense Attorney Austin Rovenstine said Roberts has been involved in drug court and Serenity House, and recently served time in prison, having successfully completed the RWI program.
“She needs a structured transition program after her release,” said Rovenstine.
He asked Reed to recommend Roberts for RWI again as part of her sentence.
“I’m filled with remorse and regret,” said Roberts. “I recognize where exactly I went wrong and I need to change my people, places and things once and for all. I take full responsibility for my actions and want to take an opportunity for a new beginning.”
On Dec. 2, 2022, officers discovered 17 grams of methamphetamine in Roberts’ vehicle after a traffic stop.
