Garden Club Introduces Green Thumb Award, Plans Plant Sale
News Release
WARSAW — With the beginning of the growing season, the Town and Country Garden Club of Warsaw is introducing the Green Thumb Award program.
The goal of the award is to recognize lawns and gardens in Kosciusko County that have been curated by the resident without the aid of a professional service.
Selected properties ideally will display pride of ownership, creativity and curb appeal, and they will be able to display the club’s Green Thumb sign. Club members will be encouraged to nominate area properties.
The club piloted the program in 2022 and the following individuals and their gardens were selected: Sara Davis, Bell Public Library, Mentone; Duane Huffer, Main Street, Warsaw; Connie Kaiser, and Lisa Sands, Winona Lake; Ron and Vicky Scantlen, Southtown, Winona Lake; and Guy and Diane Shaw, Prairie Street, Warsaw.
Plant sale May 13
The Town and Country Garden Club’s annual plant sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 26 W. Bell Drive, Warsaw. The location is marked with a large sign that says “KNOLL Club.”
A variety of perennial plants will be sold. Craft and home business vendors are welcome, and the price per vendor table is $20. If interested, send an email to [email protected]. Profits from the annual plant sale support several educational and garden initiatives in Kosciusko County.
