COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City Parks Superintendent Mark Green has recently been fired after alleged suspicious financial activity occurring at the parks department.
A public Facebook statement by Columbia City Mayor Ryan L. Daniel reads as follows:
“Recently, (Columbia City) Clerk-Treasurer Rosie Coyle and I became aware of suspicious financial activity occurring at the parks department. When discovered, we immediately contacted the Whitley County Prosecutor, Indiana State Police, and Indiana State Board of Accounts requesting an investigation. We have turned over documents to ISP and continue to be fully cooperative with investigators. We are also preparing for a full and complete audit by the Indiana State Board of Accounts. Parks Superintendent Mark Green is no longer employed at the City of Columbia City.
We cannot comment any further on the details of this case, as there is an active investigation and the prosecutor’s office is handling the matter.”
As of March 23, criminal charges have not been officially filed against Green.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Green was employed as parks superintendent since September 2004.
