ARGOS — A Kentucky man was recently arrested after allegedly raping a woman in the Argos area.
Bruce T. Campbell, 36, Jackson, Ky., is charged with rape, a level 3 felony; and sexual battery and possession of methamphetamine, both level 6 felonies.
On March 8, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a possible sexual assault at an Argos residence.
According to court documents, a woman reported being sexually assaulted by Campbell and provided details of what occurred to officers. She said she told Campbell to stop but that he did not.
An individual with an unknown mental disability who was home at the time of the incident called the homeowners and put them on speaker phone. During the call, the homeowners could hear the woman crying and the individual became more frantic, telling the owners to hurry. When asked if Campbell was touching the woman, the individual said he was. The homeowners arrived and spoke with the woman, who said Campbell raped her. They told Campbell to leave and law enforcement was contacted.
While Campbell was being questioned about the incident, deputies found methamphetamine on his person. He told deputies that everything was fine and did not provide a statement about what occurred.
Campbell was booked in the Marshall County Jail on March 8.
