One Dead, Three Injured, One Arrested In Crash

WARSAW — An Andrews man has been arrested following a fatal crash early Saturday morning, March 18, on US 30 in the area of CR 450E. One person died in the crash and three others were injured.
Cayden W. Collins, 20, Andrews, has been arrested and booked on a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a level 4, felony. He has been booked at the Kosciusko County Jail.
Conner Small, 24, Huntington ,was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office reports emergency personnel were called at 5 a.m. to an accident on US 30 in the area of CR 450E. Emergency personnel arrived and found a single vehicle involved in a rollover crash.
A 2009 Honda Pilot, driven by Austin Martin, Huntngton, had went off the south side of US 30, rolled over and hit a NIPSCO pole, coming to rest on the passenger side.
During the process of the vehicle rolling over, Small was ejected from the vehicle.
Three others, whose names have not been released, were taken by EMS to local hospitals.
During the investigation, Martin stated his vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway. Martin told police the other vehicle left the scene.
A description of the other vehicle was dispatched to surrounding law enforcement agencies and jurisdictions. The vehicle was described as a silver car with a missing headlight. The Huntington County Sheriff’s Office locaed the vehicle and through the investigation it was determined Collins was the driver of a 2009 Buick Alero.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Pierceton First Responders, Winona Lake Police Department, North Webster EMS, and Samaritan Air. KSCO was also assisted by the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office.
