WARSAW — A Warsaw man with three prior battery convictions was recently arrested after allegedly battering a woman and child.
Jordan Alexander Scott, 31, 517 E. Clark St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under the age of 14, a level 5 felony; strangulation, domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, and intimidation, all level 6 felonies; and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
On Feb. 25, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic incident. A witness said she was driving when she saw a woman and child yelling for help. Scott left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.
According to court documents, while speaking with the woman who was battered by Scott, the officer noticed the woman’s eyes and right cheek were bruised. Both she and her child were taken to a local hospital.
At the time of this incident, there was an active no-contact order prohibiting Scott from contacting her. The order stems from a pending criminal case Scott has for unlawful possession of a firearm and domestic battery. The woman is also the victim in that case.
The woman told the officer the most recent incident of physical violence with Scott began on Feb. 24, when Scott hit the woman multiple times. He also allegedly put the woman in a chokehold and threatened to kill her.
Scott then forced the woman to book a room at a local hotel to prevent a relative from seeing her injuries. He threatened to kill the woman and her children if she left the room.
On Feb. 25, Scott and the woman went to a residence, where Scott used his elbow to hit her in the head and legs while she was holding a child. At one point, Scott pushed the woman while she was holding the child, and she and the child fell onto a road. The office noticed injuries to the child’s right ear from the fall.
The woman sustained abrasions and bruising to her eyes, neck, ear, and leg.
Scott has prior convictions for battery to a pregnant woman, battery, and battery by means of a deadly weapon, all of which occurred in Kosciusko County.
Scott was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 16.
