WARSAW — The City of Warsaw and Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, March 15, at the Warsaw Tech Park to welcome global supply chain solutions company Mentor Media.
The company has numerous sites in both the United States and foreign countries.
According to a KEDCo press release, “the Warsaw location will serve as a medical device service hub, including controlled storage warehousing, an ISO Class 7 cleanroom and final packaging lines. The cleanroom will house a pre–validated sterile packaging system compliant with the new EU Medical Device Regulations.”
“Additionally, the company will offer a full suite of supply chain services including sourcing and procurement, operations management, customer service, warehousing and global distribution services,” the release said.
Construction has already begun on what will become the Mentor Media operations facility, but Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer stated a celebration of Mentor Media’s commitment to the community was in order.
The construction site is currently home to a 100,000-square foot shell building at 1395 Polk Drive, just inside of Warsaw Tech Park. West Hill Development LLC, the City of Warsaw collaborator and contractor tasked with the construction of the establishment, estimates the facility will be operational by the fall of this year.
Mentor Media Vice President of Senior Operations and CTO Yap Rueh Herng and Mentor Media President and CEO Lim Kok Khoon attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Khoon noted he is particularly pleased to become a part of the Orthopedic Capital of the World.
“We are excited and humbled by the warm welcome and support given by the City of Warsaw, Kosciusko County and the State of Indiana in this venture,” he said. “Warsaw is such a unique proposition with its strong orthopedic ecosystem and community. We look forward to offering valuable state–of–the–art supply chain and medical device packaging solutions to this region.”
According to the press release, “the Indiana Economic Development Corp. committed an investment in Mentor Media of up to $750,000 in the form of incentive–based tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants. These tax credits are performance–based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.”
Hiring is expected to begin before construction is complete, and Mentor Media expects to hire up to 50 new employees over the course of the next three years.
Victoria Herring spoke in representation of IEDC, stating, “The jobs created by this project are highly skilled, highly technical jobs that make this (Mentor Media) a perfect fit for Warsaw Tech Park.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in the future.
