WARSAW — Significant progress is being made on the new Zimmer Biomet Center Lake Pavilion and there are exciting new developments regarding the Center Lake Recreational Trail, according to Warsaw’s Superintendent of Parks Larry Plummer.

“We’re doing an overhaul of the entire facility, there are a lot of new additions,” Plummer said.

Some of the more notable changes being made to the facility are the retracting sound wall that will allow two rooms to be rented simultaneously, color-changing light fixtures, a projector system and an advanced security system.

Plummer stated the project is still on track to be completed by August; the foundation and framing are nearly complete, they are finishing up electrical work and the audio/visual system, and the flooring should be finished around June.

They will be bringing in new chairs, tables and other equipment as well.

Plummer also confirmed the pavilion will be named the Zimmer Biomet Center Lake Pavilion, as the park received a $2.5 million donation from the Zimmer Biomet Foundation for the project.

The Center Lake Recreational Trail is an equally exciting prospect to Plummer and many in the community. “It’s a big change and it’s going to be a great destination for enjoyment,” Plummer said. The trail was made possible by a $1 million donation from the Sasso family.

The project will be going out for bid on April 6, but is not expected to be completed until October. The concrete trail will be a quarter mile long and allow access to a 75 ft. fishing pier, a designated swimming area, kayaks, sand volleyball courts, and pickleball park; the trail is ADA accessible.

There will also be new lighting and benches installed along the stretch of the trail.

Plummer expressed gratitude for the significant donations that are allowing them to modify and elevate the parks for the community.
