Michael James Barrell, 69, of rural Columbia City, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, Columbia City.

He was born Jan. 28, 1954. On July 19, 1975, he married Carol Lynn Niemier, who survives.

He also is survived by his sons, Christopher R. (Shelly) Barrell, Brownsburg, and Geoffrey M. (Chelsey) Barrell, Columbia City; four grandchildren; and sisters, Ellen M. (Dale) Mais, Marcelles, Mich., and Beth A. (Tom) Swinford, Smithfield, Utah.
