WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy is hosting a free conference, Biblical Worldview Conference, from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Winona Lake Grace Church, 1200 Kings Highway. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.
Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, is the conference speaker. In the past 20 years, Myers has become one of America’s most respected authorities on youth leadership development.
Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, referred to him as “a very gifted and inspirational young leader.” Josh McDowell called him “a man who is 100% sold out to prepare the next generation to reflect the character of Christ in the culture.” Through his appearances on Fox News and other media programs, Myers has become a fresh voice offering humor and insight from a Christian worldview.
He has authored: “Understanding the Times,” “Understanding the Faith,” “Understanding the Culture,” “The Secret Battle of Ideas About God,” “Unanswered Answers,” “Cultivate,” “Truth Changes Everything” and “Grow Together.”
The evening will be broken into two sessions followed by a question and answer time.
The first session, starting at 6 p.m. will focus on “Five Bad Ideas.” Materialism, relativism, darwinism, sexual liberation and postmodernism will be the topics. After spending most of his life in higher education, Myers has seen it all. In this workshop, he takes on five bad ideas almost every young adult in the world will be exposed to in college and shows how to respond intelligently and biblically.
The second session, starting at 7:15 p.m. will be “Rescuing Your Children From The Culture Of Irresponsibility.” It’s heard all around: “It’s not my fault!” American culture promotes irresponsibility and teaches it to children at every turn. Learn the top 10 strategies for encouraging “response-ability” in a child.
The question and answer session will begin at 8:30 p.m.
