WARSAW — A Tennessee man will serve two years in the Kosciusko County Jail after burglarizing a storage unit in Warsaw.
Randall Earl Koth, 48, Ocoee, Tenn., was charged with burglary, a level 5 felony; and theft, a level 6 felony.
Koth was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior Court One on Thursday, March 2.
For burglary, Kosciusko Superior Court One Judge Karin McGrath sentenced Koth to two years in the Kosciusko County Jail and two years on probation. He also received a two-year KCJ sentence for theft. The charges will be served concurrently, or at the same time.
Defense Attorney John Barrett said Koth was denied participation in the county’s work release program but attributed that to a separate criminal case, which has since been resolved.
McGrath said she had no objection to Koth serving the executed portion of his sentence through work release if he is approved.
Koth has been trespassed from the storage unit area he burglarized and must pay $500 in restitution to the victim in this case. Locally, he has 57 days of jail time credit. McGrath requested KCJ staff look into time Koth served out-of-state, as he was initially booked in at a Tennessee jail.
On May 24, 2022, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a burglary at a local storage unit. A man said he was missing a set of golf clubs, two tents, and an industrial vacuum from his unit. Video surveillance from the storage units connected the theft to Koth. In the footage, Koth is seen getting out of his vehicle and retrieving a pair of bolt cutters to cut a lock on a storage unit.
