Fairfield Girls Basketball Wins Class 3A State Championship

INDIANAPOLIS — The Fairfield High School varsity girls basketball team defeated Corydon Central 49-42 in the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A State Finals Saturday, Feb. 25, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Fairfield senior Brea Garber led the Lady Falcons in scoring with 19 points. Garber made 13 of 15 free throws. Senior Morgan Gawthrop scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Senior Bailey Willard added 12 points.
Fairfield boasted one of the best defenses in the state, holding opponents to just over 28 points per game on the season.
Fairfield limited Corydon Central to just 30.6% shooting on two-point field goals and 11.5% on three-point field goals. Corydon Central was 3 of 26 from three-point range.
Corydon Central senior Ava Weber led all scorers with 23 points.
The Lady Falcons brought home the school’s first state championship in any sport.
The state champion Lady Falcons finished their season with a final record of 28-2.
