Alice (Duncan) Miller
Alice (Duncan) Miller, age 83, of Indianapolis, formerly of Milford, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at Traditions of North Willow in Indianapolis.
She was born in Warsaw, on Dec. 22, 1939, the daughter of Carl B. and Mary L. (Boggs) Duncan of Milford, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of over 32 years, Arnold E. Miller of Indianapolis, brother Max Duncan of Milford; son Donald L. Battenfield of Sheridan, and his children Hunter C. Battenfield, Cameron R. Battenfield, stepson Steve (Jennifer) Miller of Andrews, and their children Zachary Miller and Brittany Miller, nephew Daniel (Kelly) Duncan and their children Jay Duncan and Evelyn Duncan.
Alice graduated from Milford High School in 1957 and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in home economics and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Purdue University. She retired from John Strange Elementary School and Hilltop Elementary School in Indianapolis after 34 years as a kindergarten teacher and was a member of Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church of Indianapolis. She enjoyed fostering young people toward education, tole painting, and spending time with family and friends by the pool in warm weather. She will be missed for her ready smile, infectious laugh, and kind heart.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday March 1, at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W 900 N, Milford. A private family burial will follow at Leesburg Cemetery with Pastor Steve Wilson of Milford Christian Church officiating.
