WARSAW — Excitement, enthusiasm and some shyness could be seen when you walked into the Warsaw Performing Arts Center Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, for Warsaw Community High School Theater Department’s annual “A Magical Day.”
Close to 100 kids filled the PAC halls within the first hour to see over 40 different storybook and movie characters.
Many of the youngsters participating came dressed in their favorite costumes with a few of the parents dressing up as well.
Every where you looked there were storybook or movie characters — Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, Sponge Bob, Megara, Rapunzel, Alice, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, Aurora, Fiona, Tinkerbell, Ariel, Cinderella, Cruella de Vil, Snow White, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Sven, Woody and Jessie and many more.
Photo booths were set up on the Main Stage where kids could have their photos taken with various characters. The characters switched out every 30 minutes on one of the two stages. Additionally, every 30 minutes one of the visiting characters participated in story time.
Several craft areas were available where the youngsters could sit with a character and make their own craft to take home such as maracas, necklaces, crowns and decorate a paper bag. Those opting for the VIP admission were offered the opportunity for face painting, a pencil box craft and snack, plus photos with the crew from Star Wars and Frozen.
A light lunch and snacks were available at the concession booth. There was also an opportunity to win a prize if you found the hidden golden Mickey.
The characters were portrayed by 43 high school students who volunteered their time. Approximately 25 parents and school staff members were also on hand.
