JA JobSpark Virtual Sparks Student Interest
News Release
FORT WAYNE — This spring, over 10,000 middle and high school students from 29 schools will engage with regional employers and explore a wide variety of exciting career opportunities — without leaving their classrooms.
JA JobSpark Virtual Career Expo is a virtual event designed to spark students’ interests, get them excited about their futures and transform abstract ideas about work into tangible plans. JA JobSpark Virtual begins with a teacher-taught curriculum and culminates in an online event Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3.
Through an immersive, digital JA JobSpark simulation, students will “enter” a large, virtual building with eight distinct spaces, each representing a critical sector of the regional economy. In the “Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics” space, for example, students will enter a virtual factory, complete with workers and an assembly line. They will also join live Q&A sessions, where local industry volunteers will talk about their experiences and answer questions to help them understand what they need to do now, and in the future, to pursue the career of their dreams.
