Syracuse Public Library — Children’s Programming Resumes March 1
News release
SYRACUSE — Children’s programming resumes at the Syracuse Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, with story time and the home school program.
Story time is geared toward younger children and features a selection of picture books, songs, play and possibly even a craft. Older school-aged children can attend the home school program, where they will learn about a variety of subjects and complete hands-on projects.
Both story time and the home school program will continue to meet at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday throughout March and April.
The LEGO club will also resume meeting at 4 p.m. each Monday, starting March 6. LEGO club challenges children to be creative while engaging their problem-solving and technical sides.
Speaking of creativity and problem-solving, mark your calendars now for SPL’s popular leprechaun trap program. It’s returning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16.
In The Garden Raises Awareness Of Native Plants
SPL’s In the Garden group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive. During the session, members will create signs to raise awareness of native plants. Anyone interested in native plants, the natural world or conservation is welcome to attend.
The group will also learn more about recommended reading in 2023: “The Triumph of Seeds” by Thor Hanson, “The Book of Eels” by Patrik Svensson and “The Invention of Nature” by Andrea Wulf.
Volunteer Fixer Sought
In a quest to divert fixable items from the landfill, Syracuse Public Library is planning to hold another Fix-It Clinic this spring, featuring knife sharpening. For this program to happen, the library is seeking a person knowledgeable in knife sharpening willing to demonstrate to others how it is done.
