Carrol Sue Drudge

Carrol Sue Drudge
Carrol Sue Drudge, better known by her family and friends as “Sue,” 87, North Manchester, formerly of Sebring Fla., and Claypool, died Feb. 15, 2023, at Peabody Health Care Center, North Manchester. The youngest of three children, Sue was born March 27, 1935, to Charles E. and Letha M. (Travis) Heckber in Ossian.
Two years after graduating from Ossian High School in 1953, Sue married Harold D. Drudge on Aug. 6, 1955. During their 60 years of marriage, the two were blessed with a son, Douglas, and two daughters, Tammi and Eva Michele “Shelly” Drudge. Always thankful for the blessings that she received, Sue was faithful to the Lord. Family was always of utmost importance to her, and she wanted her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to follow in the footsteps of Christ. Sue was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church while living in Sebring, Fla., and she joined South Pleasant Church after moving back to North Manchester. She also worked at Light and Life Christian Bookstore in Warsaw for over 20 years, where her outgoing personality lent itself to talking with the store’s patrons.
During her younger years, Sue enjoyed tending to her garden, which was more like a field. She grew enough food for herself, her children and her neighbors. She also taught other family members the process of canning and freezing what she grew. Sue delighted in helping others with her kind heart and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often invited them over for movie nights, where they made cookies or popcorn together. This brought so much joy to Sue, as it helped ensure the togetherness of her family.
The loving memory of Carrol Sue Drudge will be forever cherished by her son, Douglas (Debra) Drudge, Claypool; daughters, Tammi Morgan and Shelly (Phil) Thomas, both of North Manchester; grandchildren, Nikki Miller, Sam (Beth) Thomas, Abby (Darr) Parker, Danielle (Robert) Niedbalski, Katie Thomas and Jason Banter; great-grandchildren, Payton and Parker Niedbalski, Mia Parke and Oliver and Charlotte Thomas. Carrol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Drudge; and brothers, Raymond and Dale Heckber.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 25, 2023, at South Pleasant Church, 5064 West CR 1400N, North Manchester, with Pastor Duane Kline officiating. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 SR 72, Sarasota, Fla.
