Burbrink Leaving Elkhart County Extension
News Release
ELKHART COUNTY — Jeff Burbrink, extension educator for Purdue Extension Elkhart County in the area of crops and horticulture, will be leaving Elkhart County.
“Effective March 1, I have accepted the Ag and Natural Resources position in the Purdue Extension Office in neighboring LaGrange County.” stated Burbrink. “I have been serving in Elkhart County for 36 years in two stints: November 1982 to December 1989, and from April 1994 to the present, and I do not make this change lightly.
“I am forever grateful for the opportunity I was given in Elkhart County. My time here was overwhelmingly positive. Elkhart County has been a good place to raise a family, and I had a chance to work with many wonderful people. Still, I look forward to the new challenges ahead.
“I will not be far away, and I look forward to seeing what you continue to accomplish in my absence.”
Burbrink left Elkhart County in 1989, for an extension position in Noble County. After four years there he returned to Elkhart County.
During his 36 years in Elkhart County, he has been honored for his work on numerous occasions. Burbrink has received the National Association of County Agriculture Agents Distinguished Service Award, named Indiana’s Master Gardener Coordinator of the Year, Friend of Elkhart County 4-H, Friend of Elkhart County Soil Water Conservation District and the Elkhart County Agricultural Society’s Uncle Elmer Award.
