License Plate Scanning Traffic Cameras
Dear Editor,
Your weekly poll offers one or two choices about license plate scanning traffic cameras; one says, “I have nothing to be afraid of, so okay.” The other says, “No, it is against my right to privacy.”
Where is the option that says, “NO, government is already expensive enough, these things cost plenty of money and the government has given no valid reason (i.e., suspicion of a crime being committed) as to what probable cause it has to track everyone’s movements.”
WE ARE NOT, after all, Russia or Nazi Germany. We are a nation of free people, free to travel anywhere within the country. How long will that freedom prevail if our every motion is not only TRACKED, but said tracking is supported by the numbed-sheep citizenry?
I vote NO, because there’s no valid reason the government SHOULD be capturing all this license plate data. It’s none of their proper business who goes where in the general non-criminal population.
