SILVER LAKE — Two men made it out of the water safely after falling through ice on Silver Lake on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5.
First responders were called out shortly before 1:30 p.m. to the area of 10576 S. Bouse Drive, to help the men, who had fallen through the ice while ice fishing.
Silver Lake Fire Chief John Conley said a neighbor called 911.
They were in the water about 15 minutes. Both were able to make their way to shore via crawling or scooting on their stomachs on the ice.
Conley said a neighbor brought out chunks of wood to help assist the men to shore.
Also responding to the scene were Parkview EMS, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Claypool Police Department.
