Donald Dean Taylor, 89, Pierceton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, in his residence in Pierceton.
Born Aug. 28, 1933, in Mahaska, Kan., Don was the son of Orval Davidson Taylor and Elsie Olive (Austin) Taylor. He grew up in Kansas. It is there that he met his love, Barbara (Snavely) Taylor. The two were united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1954, and spent their lives raising their three daughters. Don and Barbara were together for 65 years before her death in January 2019. Don was an honorably discharged veteran. He served in the Army National Guard from 1951 until 1954.
Don worked at several different places throughout his career in maintenance. He was all around a good guy and a true handyman. Don and Barbara owned a home in Texas, where he fell in love with country music. They met many artists while living there, including Tracy Lawrence. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf and camping. Don was always willing to lend a hand to someone who needed it and never met a stranger. His will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Along with his three daughters, Rhonda (James) McCool, Donita (Kevin) Raypholtz and Becki (Reggie) Evans, Don is survived by his grandchildren, Doug (Amanda) Clingerman, Eric (Robin) Cook, Christopher Cook, Ernie Plymale IV, Brittney Underwood, Andrew (Sara) Wilson, Nina Stephens, Justin Evans and Dori Gripman; 28 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Jack (Sharon) Snavely. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; several brothers and sisters; and grandson, Devon Clingerman.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the care of Don. Friends may join his family from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw.
