WARSAW — A Warsaw teenager was arrested for allegedly stealing alcohol from a local pharmacy after being trespassed from the store in 2022.
Quentin Terrell Lazarius Lamont Shepherd, 19, 544 E. Main St. Apartment B., Warsaw, is charged with theft, resisting law enforcement, and criminal trespass, all class A misdemeanors; false informing, a class B misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
On Jan. 1, Warsaw Police officers responded to a theft report at CVS Pharmacy. The suspect stole alcohol from the store and fled on foot.
According to court documents, the suspect, later identified as Shepherd, disregarded officers’ commands and continued to flee on foot until he was apprehended. Shepherd provided a false age to officers prior to being taken in to custody.
A store employee said Shepherd came into the store and was asking about alcohol. The employee told Shepherd alcohol couldn’t be sold since it was after 8 p.m. on a Sunday. Shepherd then allegedly grabbed a bottle of alcohol and left the store.
Shepherd has two prior theft convictions, both of which involve stealing alcohol from the Warsaw CVS Pharmacy. The thefts occurred on July 8 and 30, 2022. Shepherd was also trespassed from the store on July 14, 2022.
A Warsaw Police officer obtained surveillance footage from CVS on Jan. 6 and saw Shepherd take a bottle of alcohol, stuff it into his coat, and then leave the store without paying for the alcohol.
For this case, Shepherd has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
