Traffic Stop For Unsafe Slow Speed Results In Discovery Of Drugs And Counterfeit Bills

LAGRANGE COUNTY — A traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road resulted in the arrest of three females from Illinois after troopers discovered drugs and counterfeit money.
At approximately 11:27 a.m. Jan. 13, Trooper Samuel Waterhouse stopped a red Ford SUV for traveling at an unsafe slow speed in the left lane of the Indiana Toll Road near the 112 mile marker, eastbound. Waterhouse reports that the Ford was traveling in the left lane at approximately 45 miles per hour in the 70 mile per hour zone.
While Waterhouse spoke to the driver, Nahgeyanna James, 25, Chicago, Ill., he smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from the Ford. This led to a search of the Ford and the discovery of approximately 30 grams of suspected marijuana, a pill of suspected to be Ecstasy and 30 counterfeit $100 bills.
James was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The front seat passenger, identified as Chantay Green, 24, Ill., was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fraud and Counterfeiting. The backseat passenger, identified as Victoria Dowells, 26, Chicago, Ill., was arrested for an active warrant out of Lake County, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance. James, Green and Dowells were taken to the LaGrange County Jail.
